Short Courses
Tautai provides short course training opportunities to artists when and where a need is identified. Wherever possible, artists who have specialized knowledge in that specific identified area are engaged to run the course. As many artists work in isolation, these workshops also provide an opportunity for artists to network with their peers. There is no charge to the attendees, numbers are limited and are on a first-come-first-served basis.
4 December 2009
Thirty five artists attended a Professional Development Day at The Drake in Freemans Bay Auckland. The full day program was attended by artists who had recently completed tertiary studies as well as established and mid career artists. Guest speakers included Jon Bywater, lecturer, writer and art critic, Tim Walker freelance curator and arts professional, and Lynn Lawton from The Arts Depot in Devonport.
Tim Walker also ran a stimulating workshop on preparing proposals for galleries and museums and the day ended with an artists forum.
28 June 2008
Tautai in partnership with Manukau Arts held a full day Professional Development Workshop at Otara Music and Art Centre, (OMAC) Otara.

Seminars
A full day artists fono was held in Auckland in March 2007. Aimed specifically at more established artists, this was an ‘invite only’ seminar. Guest speakers were Howard Greive, Tim Melville and Dr Sharman Pretty, with industry input from Anton Carter (CNZ) and Maggie Gresson (Artists Alliance) and an instructive hour on accounting and gst programs specifically for artists presented by Michelle Khan and Peter Stowers.
