'Laundromat', D.A.N.C.E Art Club, 2009
Auckland based Artists Collective D.A.N.C.E! (Distinguished All Night Community Entertainers) facilitates art gatherings in which boundaries are blurred between creative disciplines and where social engagement is our key focus. Our events incorporate art installations which include themed music, food, refreshments and entertainment. Therefore our event organisation is considered as much a part of the art, as the objects on display. As a collective we thrive on the collaborative nature of projects and aim to encourage audience engagement and participation – as a way of opening up conversation and making art accessible.
D.A.N.C.E! consists of visual artists; Ahilapalapa Rands, Linda.T, Vaimaila Urale and Chris Fitzgerald and will present ‘Casual Romance Club’ at Enjoy Public Gallery in Wellington, Opening Wednesday, 30th June running till the 7th July 2010.
'Casual Romance Club' also includes guest artists Janet Lilo, Arie Hellendoorn, Jacqueline Mcgraw, Jonathan Cameron and Keila Martin. The exhibition explores notions of modern day communication, romance and relationships; begging the question, how has human behaviour adapted to digital, online and contemporary media in sustaining relationships. The exhibition includes collaborative artworks, video installation, music, painting, and sculpture.
